Good Samaritan punched in the face

A good samaritan who tried to split up a fight between a man and woman was punched in the face for his efforts.

The man, who has not been named but is in his 20s was in a restaurant in Watling Street, Gillingham, on Saturday, December 20, when he heard a commotion outside.

He went to investigate and saw the pair fighting.

As he attempted to intervene he was punched and received a cut to his face.

Detectives investigating the assault say there were a number of people who would have witnessed the incident, and they are asking them to come forward to assist their investigation.

The incident happened at about 10pm.

Det Con Steve Goldsmith, said: “We are hopeful someone will be able to help us with the investigation as the road was quite busy at the time the incident took place and a number of people are believed to have walked and driven past.
