An eco-home built near Staplehurst, which featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs, is up for an award.

The building is on the South East regional shortlist for the Royal Institute of British Architects' 2009 awards.

Thirteen buildings were shortlisted in the South East for the RIBA Award, following visits by members of the shortlisting panel.

Crossway is owned and built by architect Richard Hawkes and his wife Sophie.

It does not rely on mains water or central heating.
