Grandson in dock on murder charge

A 24-year-old man has appeared before a court accused of murdering his grandmother.

Maxwell Twyman is charged with killing 62-year-old Valerie Twyman who was found dead at her home in Conyngham Close, Ramsgate, on Christmas Day. She died from stab wounds.

Her grandson, also of Conyngham Close, Ramsgate, was remanded in custody on Thursday by Dover magistrates to next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on January 11.

Earlier a police spokeswoman said: "A post mortem examination carried out on the woman on Boxing Day afternoon showed that she died from stab wounds to her chest and abdomen."
