Greenpeace activists in court over Kingsnorth protest

Six Greenpeace activists will face charges of criminal damage and aggravated trespass at Maidstone Crown Court this Monday.

The charges arose after the defendants took part in the climbing and occupation of the 200 metre smokestack at Kingsnorth power station in Kent before painting the name of Prime Minister Gordon Brown down the side in October last year.

The six defendants are: Tim Hewke, 48, from Ulcombe in Kent; Huw Williams, 41, from Nottingham; Ben Stewart, 34, from Lyminge in Kent; Kevin Drake, 44, from Westbury in Wiltshire; Will Rose, 29, from London; and Emily Hall, 34, from New Zealand.
