A MAN was found dead at a house in a Kent town after a domestic incident involving a firearm.

Armed police officers were called to the house in The Halt, off Millstrood Road, Whitstable, at about 10.30pm on Wednesday night.

While they were planning their tactics, the police control room received a call to say the man inside had shot himself.

Officers entered the property and found his body. His wife and adult son, who were outside the house, were taken to a police station in the area.

A police spokesman said they were not treating the incident as suspicious and were not looking for anyone else in connection with the tragedy.

Neighbours said the family were quiet and friendly and the incident had been "a terrible shock".
