A series of minor accidents caused traffic chaos around Medway this morning.

after tSeveral people were taken to hospital with whiplash injurieswo cars collided on the M2 Gillingham slip road at about 8.10am.

About half an hour later, four cars crashed at the Blue Bell Hill interchange - just as a vehicle broke down at the Four Elms roundabout at Wainscott.

Traffic became congested as motorists tried to find their way round minor roads as a thick fog descended on the Towns.

Meanwhile, there were long delays in both directions on the M2 because traffic lights were out at junction two.

A Kent Police spokesman said it appeared the weather and accidents disrupted the rush hour.
