SEVEN men suffering hypothermia have been detained by police after they received information that illegal immigrants were hiding in the back of a lorry.

The refrigerated lorry carrying a cargo of oranges was stopped on the B2011 at Capel-le-Ferne, near Dover, by police at midday yesterday.

The men were treated for hypothermia by an ambulance crew but a police spokesman said their condition was not life-threatening.

The Spanish driver of the lorry was arrested and HM Immigration is investigating.
