Injured PC: second man in court

A SECOND man has appeared in court in connection with an incident in which a traffic police officer was struck down by his own patrol car.

Maxwell Thomas Lancaster, 18, from Catford, South East London, was arrested on Tuesday and taken to Maidstone Police Station.

He appeared the same day at Maidstone Magistrates Court charged with aggravated vehicle taking. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court again next week.

The arrest follows a police appeal for information about the incident following an incident at the end of a chase along the M20 on Wednesday, December 10.

PC Guy Miller, 33, based at Kent Police traffic headquarters in Coldharbour, Maidstone, remains in a critical but stable condition on an intensive care ward at Maidstone Hospital.

Ricky Hales, 19, from Deptford, South East London, was charged last month with the attempted murder of PC Miller and aggravated vehicle taking. He is currently on remand awaiting a trial at Maidstone Crown Court.
