Invicta Dynamos returned to winning ways in the English National Ice Hockey League South Division 1 with a 6-5 victory over Wightlink Raiders on Sunday.

They shrugged off the memory of the previous weekend's 8-2 defeat to the Chelmsford Chieftains with a thrilling victory over the reigning champions in Gillingham.

Dynamos led 2-1 at the end of the first period through Corey Watkins and Andy Smith (pictured), with Damon Larter replying for Raiders. Wightlink then pulled level through Nathan Taylor to set up a frantic final period which produced seven goals.

Larter put the Raiders in front but Ryan Ellis’ solo strike restored parity at 3-3. Wightlink were quickly back in front through Dominic Hopkins but Canadian Justin Noble cancelled out that with a fine strike from an acute angle. Noble doubled his tally to put the Dynamos 5-4 ahead and then Richard Bentham created a two-goal cushion for the home side.

Joe Rand pulled one back for Wightlink but Dynamos held on to record a morale-boosting victory ahead of this Sunday's clash with league leaders Romford Raiders in the ENIHL Cup at Gillingham.
