Island remembers Battle of Britain

The Island branch of the Royal Air Force Association marked the 68th anniversary of the Battle of Britain at the weekend.

Also at Holy Trinity Church, Sheerness, for the memorial service on Sunday were the Mayor and Mayoress of Swale Cllrs Alan and Jean Willicombe.

A wreath was laid by the mayor, who also read the first lesson. He was joined by the mayoral cadet Able Cadet Ryan Kerridge of Sheppey Sea Cadets.

The service is an annual event to commemorate the Battle of Britain. Afterwards those who went along were given refreshments at the United Masonic Club, in St George’s Avenue.
