The clubs, a mixed set comprising 9 x Cleveland irons, 1 x Calloway driver, 1 x Mazuno wood and 1 x Ping putter, and the phone were put in the boot of the car after the owner finished playing. A car window was smashed to get to the property.

A police spokeswoman said: "Our crime reduction advice is do not leave items of value in your vehicle including cheque books and credit cards. Thieves can find even those things that are put out of sight."
