Jamie Day makes his first return to Dartford on Tuesday night since leaving to become manager at Blue Square South Welling.

The 30-year-old quit the Darts at the start of November to take over at Park View Road and takes his new side to Princes Park in the second round of the Kent Senior Trophy.

Day's switch was initially blocked by Dartford, who demanded compensation for the player, and the midfielder believes that he could receive a mixed reception.

"There will probably be a mixed reception," said Day. "There will be some that aren't happy but people that I have seen since I left don't have a problem with it.

"They understand that I left to go to a club at a higher level and to get onto the management ladder.

"I'm looking forward to going back. If they put a strong side out it will give us a good indication as to where we are against a team running away with the league below us.

"I speak to (Dartford manager) Tony (Burman) quite regularly about players and how things are going so I like to think there is still a good atmosphere and link with them."

Day will field a fairly strong side as holders Welling start their defence of the trophy they won last season.

"We're going to take the 16 that we had against Thurrock and probably start the lads that were on the bench," revealed Day.

"Dean Cracknell needs 90 minutes under his belt, he played an hour in midweek at Thamesmead so he needs another game.

"We are the holders so we are going to try and win it again if we can."
