A car dealership has collapsed, leaving about 70 workers without jobs.

Employees of Greens Motor Group said they had not been paid this year.

About 50 staff arrived at Vauxhall dealers Greens of Rainham in a final attempt to get answers from their bosses on Friday.

They didn't get any – but the next morning they received letters informing them the company had gone into administration and their employment had ceased on Friday.

The employees said they had not received any pay since December, but many continued to report for work because they were unsure of their employment status.

The Greens showrooms, on the A2 at Rainham and at Holborough near Snodland, were emptied of cars before Christmas.

One employee, who did not want to be named, said staff were angry they had been left in limbo for so long. They had tried for weeks, unsuccessfully, to discover what their situation was.

He said originally about 140 employees of Greens Motor Group – which comprises Greens of Rainham, Greens of Holborough, Medway Autos and Petrol Supermarkets – were affected, but many had left, fearing the company was going under.
