Joe's Jungletime boost panto ticket sales

Joe Swash’s appearance on I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here is doing wonders for ticket sales at Chatham’s Central Theatre.

Sales for Cinderella have gone up by 22 per cent since the former EastEnders’ star went into the jungle a week and a half ago – normally ticket numbers go up by just seven per cent in that time.

A Medway Council spokesman said: “This is really great news for the theatre – and again, we would ask customers not to leave it to the last minute to get their tickets.”

Stickers urging people to Vote for Joe were snapped up like hot cakes when they were handed out by the council during the Christmas lights switch-on in Chatham High Street.

Tony Hill, the theatre’s general manager, said: “Since Joe has been appearing in I’m A Celebrity the theatre’s box office has been inundated with bookings to see him in our pantomime, Cinderella.

"This week has seen an unprecedented rise in ticket sales and clearly this demand looks set to continue the longer Joe stays in the jungle.”

Joe will play Buttons in Cinderella at the Central Theatre, Chatham, from Friday, December 12.
