Kent Spitfires aim to record their fourth successive win and go top of the NatWest Pro40 Division 2 when they face Surrey Brown Caps in a day-night game, in front of the Sky cameras at Canterbury tonight (Thursday).

They are set to stick with the same side that beat Derbyshire Phantoms at Chesterfield giving the club’s youngsters another chance to impress in front of their home crowd at the St Lawrence Ground.

England Under-19 all rounder James Goodman is included in a squad of 12, with the county again resting many of their big names ahead of the LV County Championship clash between the two sides that begins on Friday. They start midday, an hour later than usual.

Coach Simon Willis said: “We have involved the young guys in the previous games to see how they respond, and they have put in some great performances. It’s pretty exciting for me as Alex Blake and Paul Dixey were in our first ever Academy intake.

Blake scored a one-day best 80 against Derbyshire at the weekend, while Dixey celebrated his debut in the competition against Leicestershire Foxes by scoring the winning runs at Grace Road last week.

The game starts at 4.40pm and the club are also operating Kids for a Quid tickets to all under-18s. It’s a designated Family Fun Day and Rat Pack singer Charlie Francis will also be entertain the crowds.
