The moment he broke his nan’s window aged just two, Ashford lad Derek Thompson’s family knew he was going to be a football star.
The little eight-year-old John Wesley school pupil is currently out in Spain playing for Arsenal under 9s.
Nan Paula Sankey, 60, said: "I remember when he two-years-old he kicked this ball at my window and it went straight through.
"It was doubled glazed as well. I wasn’t thinking about the window but the way he kicked it I just knew he was going to be a footballer."
The young gunner, who supports the team, has always been football mad.
His mum Amanda, 35, from Chartfields said: "I think since he’s been born he’s been football mad. I’d give him an orange and he’d think it was a football. We’re all really looking forward to going to Spain and I think Derek’s going to really enjoy himself."
