THE Isle of Sheppey was cut off from more than three hours this morning after a serious crash on the Kingsferry Bridge.

The male driver of a silver Nissan Primera suffered life-threatening head injuries in the collision which happened at about 3.45am. Police have so far not been able to identify him.

A Sheerness man driving a Vauxhall Combo van suffered chest and back injuries in the collision, but his condition is not considered to be life-threatening.

The road was closed while emergency services freed the men from their vehicles and crash investigation teams examined how the collision occurred. The road was re-opened shortly after 7am.
