Kingsnorth protest jury goes out

A jury at Maidstone Crown Court retired at 1pm today to consider its verdict in the case of six Greenpeace volunteers who attempted to shut down Kingsnorth coal-fired power station last year.

Six climate change campaigners are facing charges of criminal damage after taking part in the climbing and occupation of the power station's 200 metre smokestack before painting the name of Prime Minister Gordon Brown down the side in October.
