Large reward to catch £48m divorcee's house burglar

INSURERS of a woman who was robbed of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery during a burglary have offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the culprit.

The break in happened at the home of Beverley Charman a week after her ex-husband, John Charman, challenged a record £48million divorce settlement awarded to her.

A man got into the house in Wildernesse Avenue, Sevenoaks, tied her up and threatened her with a firearm before stealing her jewellery. Mrs Charman was unhurt but very shaken.

Police have renewed their appeal for information about the break in which happened on Friday, March 9.

A spokeman for the insurance company said: "Mrs Charman underwent a frightening ordeal which involved being threatened with a firearm in her own home.

"Knowing that this man has been apprehended would provide some comfort to Mrs Charman, and may prevent this happening to another innocent householder."

The man is described as white and aged 18 to 26. He was wearing dark coloured clothing and a balaclava.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01732 379217 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
