Light aircraft crashes in Rolvenden

A pilot had to be freed from his aircraft after it crashlanded in trees at Rolvenden.

Three fire engines plus support vehicles were called to Hastings Road at 5.25pm this evening following the light aircraft crash.

It's believed the pilot, in his late 70s, hit hedgerows and trees.

Fire crews freed the man using small tools, and he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The air ambulance also attended, and the incident was over by 7pm.
