Lorry driver cut from wreckage after M20 smash

FIREFIGHTERS cut a lorry driver free from the wreckage after two heavy goods vehicles collided on the M20 this morning.

The crash took place shortly after 7am on the coastbound carriageway between junction 1 (Swanley) and junction 2 (Wrotham).

The injured man was taken to Darent Valley Hospital.

Two lanes of the motorway were closed while police, fire and rescue service crews and Highways Agency staff attended the scene.

Motorists faced rush hour delays of at least 10 minutes. The road was expected to be reopened at around 10.15am.
