Lorry driver dies after crash on M2

A MAN has died after the lorry he was driving overturned on the M2 motorway between Gillingham and Chatham.

The incident, in which no-one else was thought to be involved, happened on the London-bound carriageway just after 2.15pm yesterday.

Medway Ambulance Operations Supervisor Simon Clark said: "A paramedic was first on the scene followed by an ambulance crew of two paramedics. When they arrived the man was unconscious with multiple injuries.

"The paramedics did an excellent job getting him to hospital. The man was put on a long-board and taken by air ambulance to Maidstone Hospital." Despite the paramedics best efforts, the man died shortly after arrival.

The identity of the man is not yet known. An inquest will be held.
