A YOUNG couple were helped to safety by a passing driver when their car overturned on a country road.

The Fiat Coupe car overturned on a bend in wet conditions on Heath Road, between Coxheath and Five Wents, just before 2pm on Sunday.

Kent Messenger photographer Steve Crispe, who happened to be driving along the same road, was the first person on the scene.

He said: "I went round the corner and saw the site of the car overturned. I slowed up and saw the guy lifting up the door and looking out of the top of the car.

"I gave him the thumbs-up to see if he was okay and got a very vague response so I pulled over."

Mr Crispe then climbed on top of the car to hold the door open so the couple could climb out.

The man and woman, both aged in their 20s, escaped without serious injury.
