M20 partly closed as lorry catches fire

Motorists are being advised to find alternative routes this evening after a lorry thought to be carrying magazines caught fire on the M20.

It happened at junction two of the coast-bound carriageway at 3pm.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service diverted traffic along the M26 while they extinguished the blaze.

Lane three of the M20 was re-opened at 3.50pm, however, lanes one and two are expected to remain closed until at least 7pm tonight. This is to allow time for debris to be cleared and assessments of the road surface to take place.

The slip road from Wrotham Hill is currently closed.
