Ellis Green's first-half goal was enough to secure Maidstone United victory against landlords Sittingbourne in Ryman League Division 1 South at Bourne Park on Wednesday night.

The game had been rearranged after being abandoned the previous week due to floodlight failure, but once again the game was thrown into darkness after kick-off.

Green had fired the Stones ahead with a free-kick through a crowd on 21 minutes, but with Maidstone in the ascendancy the ground was plunged into darkness again on 27 minutes - although this time the problem was rectified in just nine minutes and the match was completed infront of a crowd of almost 400 fans.

The Brickies improved after the break and Jack Hooper looked to have levelled shortly after the hour mark, only for his lob to be superbly tipped round the post by Charlie Mitten (pictured).

The three points took Maidstone up to 11th in the table, ahead of the Brickies, and made it three-straight wins in all competitions.

The Stones visit Croydon Athletic on Saturday while the Brickies host title-chasing Bognor Regis at Bourne Park.
