A GUNMAN who went on the rampage, shooting at two men on a gypsy camp, appeared at court on Friday.

Gerry Connors, 29, was due to be sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court for shooting at Paul Saunders and his brother John at the Orchard Park site, Upchurch, on May 2 last year.

The court heard how Connors fired several shots but miraculously only Paul Saunders was injured. He needed emergency surgery.

Connors, previously of Haycroft Road, Surbiton, Surrey, but now of no fixed address, was originally charged with the attempted murders of the Saunders brothers.

But his pleas of guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent on Paul Saunders and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent on John Saunders were accepted.

Sentencing was adjourned until October 2. Connors was remanded in custody.
