Man cut from car after crash in Medway Tunnel

A motorist had to be cut out of his car after crashing in the Medway Tunnel last night.

The young man was driving a red Vauxhall Astra VXR when he crashed into the wall at around 11pm and became trapped in his car.

Firefighters from Medway and Strood stations were called to the scene and had to cut the roof off the car to rescue the driver.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said it was not known how the crash happened.

The man, whose age is unknown, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with suspected neck injuries.
