Man dies after being hit by train

A man was killed when he was struck by a train in Kent.

The 56-year-old was hit by Monday's 12.57pm Ramsgate to Ashford train at Smeeth.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "The incident, which was reported to police at 2.03pm, is being treated as non-suspicious.

"BTP officers attended alongside paramedics from the local ambulance service."

The line was handed back to Network Rail at 3.35pm.
