Man robbed at gunpoint

A MAN was held up at gunpoint and robbed in Gillingham.

The pedestrian was approached by two black men who put a gun to his mouth and took his cash and mobile phone.

Both robbers, who spoke with strong Jamaican accents, assaulted him before driving off in a red vehicle along Richmond Road. One of them was wearing a white, crochet-style hat.

The victim received a slight head injury in the assault and was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for tests. He was later released.

Police-who believe the gun may have been a replica-are now searching for the two men.

Det Sgt Kerry Rothwell said: "This is a particularly nasty assault and we would ask anyone who may have information to contact us immediately."

If anyone has any information about the crime they should contact Medway Police on 01634 884212 or Crimestoppers 0800 555111.
