Manager Mark Stimson believes Gills crowd can roar his side to victory in League 2 play-off against Rochdale

Sunday’s League 2 play-off semi-final second-leg against Rochdale will be a near sell-out and Gills boss Mark Stimson believes the home crowd can make all the difference.

Little separated the sides in the first leg at Spotland on Thursday night but Stimson (picture below) knows 8,000 vocal Gillingham fans would give his players the confidence they need.

He said: “What can make a difference is that crowd. We’ve got that Rainham End and I’ve been told we’ve got two sides sold out already, so bring your voices on Sunday and make some noise for the boys because they are going to need it.

“At Rochdale, they were brilliant. On Sunday, we’ll have 6-8,000 fans and if they can make half as much noise as that 6-800 did at Rochdale, then it’s going to be a great occasion.

“All I ask of them is, don’t speak until then, save your voice, save everything you’ve got and give every ounce because me and the players are going to do that and we need to because this is a good Rochdale team.

“Bring your flags and your scarves and whatever you have but most importantly, bring your voice and really get behind the boys.

“Some might say it could be added pressure but the boys won’t feel that and they just have to go out there and have no regrets.”
