A man admitted manslaughter when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today.

Mark Thomas, of Vicarage Crescent, Margate, attacked 58-year-old David Ford on March 6. The victim died from his injuries two days later.

Anthony Prosser, prosecuting, said psychiatrists had suggested a plea to manslaughter by diminished responsibility would be appropriate.

Judge Philip Statman said he would need a further psychiatric report before passing sentence on or after October 3.

Bearded Thomas, 38, who wore a rosary around his neck, was remanded in custody.
