Five days after scoring an own goal that handed Burton a win against Gillingham, defender Matt Fish scored at the right end, to help his side to maximum points against Macclesfield on Saturday.

Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler was delighted to see the right-back (pictured) get a much-needed confidence boost.

Hessenthaler said: "The goal (on Tuesday) came off Fishy and he dropped his head a bit there. That’s the problem because he needs confidence.

"He started off shaky (on Saturday) but he gradually grew into the game and I was pleased with him.

"I have seen him play and I have worked with him in non-league. He has a lot to learn but he is going to be a good player if he has a bit more self-belief and confidence. We just have to keep giving him that.

"Players make mistakes; the best players in the world make mistakes. You have to be strong mentally and he has to learn that."
