Medway curry chef dishes up global prize

Medway Curry Chef Abul Monsur is celebrating after achieving success in an international food festival.

Mr Monsur, who is Executive Chef at The Taj Cuisine in Walderslade was one of the six chefs who demonstrated their skills at the British Fusion Food Festival, held in Bangladesh.

The chefs were required to create a menu and design dishes that reating the ultimate fusion of East and West.

Mr Monsur, 42, won the chef of the year award at the Festival – an accolade, which saw him jetting off to compete in five stars Dhaka Sheraton Hotel, Bangladesh.

He impressed the judges with dishes such as lightly spiced king prawns with coriander sauce, 'Chingri Jolmol.'

Master Chef Abul Monsur, has already tasted success in regional curry chef competitions, including the Medway Curry Chef of the Year in the past.

But, for the first time he was selected for the British Fusion Food Festival and managed to bag the star prize.

He said: "I am very proud with my achievement. There was some good competition."
