Kent have made batsman Michael Powell their first signing of the winter.

The 34-year-old right-hander, who was released by Glamorgan at the end of last season after 14 years with the Welsh county, has signed a two-year contract at the St Lawrence Ground.

Powell said: “I am looking forward to making the move to Kent. I’m extremely pleased to have signed this contract with the club. I hope to make a positive impact next season and look forward to the challenges ahead at Kent County Cricket Club.”

Kent’s chairman of cricket, Graham Johnson, said: “We are delighted to be able to announce that Michael will be coming to Kent. He has had a very successful career with Glamorgan, and still has much to offer county cricket. We look forward to his contributions for the club over the next two years.”
