New signing George Purcell scored in either half as Margate beat Leiston 2-0 at Hartsdown Park on Tuesday.

The double from Purcell, pictured, helped Gate to a third win in a row at home and moved Craig Holloway's side up to sixth in the Ryman League Premier Division, outside the play-offs on goal-difference.

Maidstone are five points clear at the top of Ryman League Division 1 South after a 2-0 home win against Kent rivals Whitstable.

Winger Rory Hill lashed home his first goal for the club on 25 minutes and Tim Olorunda made the points safe from brother Ade's cross 19 minutes from time.

Whitstable finished the game a man down with defender Ollie Lee sent off for two yellow cards.

Both sides had a man sent off as Faversham dropped to third place following a 1-1 draw at home to Ramsgate.

Aiden Sherlock saw red for the hosts in a goalless first half, with Rams' Tom Chapman following after the break.

Substitute Renford Tenyue gave Town the lead but Rams claimed a point when Curtis Robinson's cross was turned into his own net by Matt Bourne.
