Midweek Ryman League round-up

Folkestone Invicta missed the chance to climb back out of the Ryman League Premier Division drop-zone as they went down 2-1 at home to Carshalton Athletic on Tuesday night.

On a night when fourth-bottom Aveley lost and basement-boys Croydon drew with Horsham - who were only five points above the relegation-zone - a win could have taken Invicta two points above the safety line.

However the visitors took the lead after just three minutes through Luke Pigden and Joel Ledgister doubled the advatage seven minutes before the break.

Despite a vastly improved second-half display which saw the hosts hit the woodwork, Jimmy Dryden’s (pictured) superb blast nine minutes from time could not spark a late rally.

  • Bromley's Blue Square Bet South play-off bid is all but over after a 1-0 defeat at Eastleigh on Tuesday. It is now six games without a win for Hayden Bird's side, who were beaten by a Mark Nwokeji goal midway through the second half.
