Midweek Ryman League round-up

Tonbridge Angels’ hopes of promotion from the Ryman League, Premier Division were ended with a play-off defeat to Carshalton Athletic on Tuesday night.

There was better joy though for Cray Wanderers as they beat Worthing to progress into the Division 1 South final.

Angels finished third in the Premier Division and had home advantage in the semi-final but were unable to make it count at Longmead Stadium, losing 3-2.

Athletic took the lead on 24 minutes through Richard Jolly and went two goals up when Charlie Ide netted shortly after the break.

Carl Rook pulled a goal back from the penalty spot midway through the half to give the majority of the 1,249 crowd some hope and Paul Booth levelled with eight minutes left.

Tonbridge were denied a place in the play-off final when Jolly scored again a minute later.

Cray finished second in Division 1 South and beat Worthing 1-0 courtesy of Jamie Wood’s strike. They now meet Met Police in the final at Hayes Lane on Saturday.
