Motorcyclist dies in crash

A MOTORCYCLIST was killed early today in an accident involving a blue Renault Clio car on the A249 at Stockbury, near Sittingbourne.

The rider is thought to have been on a red Suzuki motorcycle on the Maidstone-bound side of the A249, just passed the Stockbury roundabout.

The tragedy happened shortly after 6am. The victim has not yet been named.

Police closed the Maidstone-bound carriageway and the accident caused huge traffic tailbacks to the A249 junction with the M2 for more than than two hours. The congestion at the roundabout also caused long queues on the Sheppey-bound side of the A249.
