Motorcyclist dies in crash with car

A MOTORCYCLIST was killed after his bike collided with a car. The victim, who was riding a yellow Suzuki motorbike, crashed into the side of a Ford Fiesta at the junction of Walderslade Woods Road and Impton Lane, Walderlade, near Chatham.

The motorcyclist, believed to be in his thirties and from the Rochester area, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 7.10am on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old driver of the Fiesta, who is from Walderslade, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Medway Police closed the road for two and a half hours while Kent Police’s serious collision unit carried out an investigation into the crash.

A spokesperson from Medway ambulance station said: “Unfortunately the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“The crew then dealt with the driver of the car. He was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital suffering from suspected head, chest and spinal injuries but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.”
