Motorist 'critical' after car overturns

A MAN remains in a critical condition in intensive care today after his Volvo car overturned on the Stockbury roundabout near Sittingbourne.

Ambulance, fire crews and police were called to the scene by a recovery vehicle driver. He had seen the overturned car but assumed it was a wreck and drove on.

It was only when he looked back that he saw a body inside and dialled 999. It is not known how long the man had been there.

He was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with a broken neck, pelvis, leg and arm and other internal injuries. The man is in his late 40s and from Bermondsay in London.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, in the early hours of Saturday morning, to contact Swale Police on 01795 477055.
