Motorway crash victim named

A DRIVER killed in a head-on collision after driving the wrong way down a motorway in has been named by police.

Martin Owens, 42, from Edenbridge, died when his Rover MG collided with a Honda Jazz on the northbound carriageway of the M23 in Surrey on 12 August.

Shortly after the crash Mr Owen's car exploded. Two other people were seriously injured in the incident.

The driver of the Honda, a 39-year-old woman from Chichester in Sussex, is being treated in hospital for serious injuries. Her passenger, a 39-year-old man from the Isle of Lewis in Scotland, also suffered serious injuries. He is in a stable condition in hospital.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
