A MAN has appeared in court charged with the murder on the A20 of Joseph Ennis from Gravesend.

Francois Gilbert Christophe, 47, of Maritime Gate, Northfleet, was arrested by police shortly after the stabbing at the Swanley Interchange on Sunday, July 4.

He spent time under police guard at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup, where he was treated for stab wounds to his hands and stomach.

Both Mr Christophe and Mr Ennis were believed to be in the same car, a blue Peugeot 405, when the incident took place.

A post mortem carried out on Mr Ennis revealed that he died from multiple stab wounds.

Magistrates at Sevenoaks on Monday ruled that Mr Christophe should now appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.

Meanwhile, North Kent police are still appealing for a woman seen on the A20 on July 4, at about 7.15pm, to contact them.

The woman was walking along the London-bound carriageway of the A20 in a coast bound direction pulling a suitcase on wheels near to the time and location of the murder.

DI Andy Short said: “We are appealing for this woman to make contact with us as she may have seen the vehicle the two men were travelling in and have information that could be relevant to the investigation.”

The woman is asked to contact the incident room at North Kent on 01322 283109.
