Murder suspect still receiving medical care

DETECTIVES are still waiting to question a man in connection with the murder of a teacher whose body was discovered in the grounds of a prison.

Louise Evans, 48, from Hothfield, near Ashford, was stabbed at East Sutton Park jail near Maidstone on Wednesday, September 12.

Officers arrested a man two days later but he required medical treatment before questioning.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "He remains under medical care and officers are still waiting to question him."

The body of Ms Evans, a single mother-of-two and a literacy tutor, was found slumped behind her car in the open women’s prison car park.

A team of about 20 detectives were assigned to the case, working from an incident room at Kent Police Headquarters in Maidstone.

Officers arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of the murder in the Ashford area on the evening of September 14.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information concerning the case to come forward.
