Bands appearing at the Churchill Tavern, Ramsgate, on Sunday June 29 hail from New Zealand, New York and, er, Ramsgate.

So So Modern are from New Zealand and have been described as having a sound somewhere between Devo and Daft Punk. This is the first English date of their European tour and probably the last time you’ll get to see them anywhere like this.

Thomas Truax comes from New York City, and has been dubbed “an anti folk legend who sounds like Tom Waits’ weird younger brother.”

Using a collection of home-made instruments, including sister spinster, the string-a-ling and the Hornicator, Thomas guarantees lots of fun. He’s also the star of a forthcoming feature length documentary 'One Man in The Band.’ For more info, see www. thomastruax. com

The chaps in local band Jigsaw Project play aimiable, mesmerising indie pop using guitar, bass, piano, and projections. They sum their sound up a “the tunesmithery of Ray Davies combined with the life affirming poignancy of The Flaming Lips.” See www.myspace.com/jigsawproject for more on them.

The music is on from 6-9pm, and it’s free.
