THE Labour Party headquarters in Bexleyheath was daubed with “Fathers 4 Justice” graffiti in a mystery attack the day after a protest by the fathers' rights group was carried out at Buckingham Palace.

Two slogans - in black lettering - were discovered on the front and side of the building in Pickford Lane on Tuesday morning by staff of a pre-school nursery arriving to open up the hall adjoining the rear of the offices, which is also owned by the Labour Party.

The graffiti was discovered just a day after fathers’ rights campaigner Jason Hatch - dressed as Batman - breached tight security at Buckingham Palace to stage a protest.

However, the Fathers 4 Justice organisation denied any knowledge of the slogans painted on Bexleyheath and Crayford Constituency Labour Party offices.

Richard Castle, London area coordinator for Fathers 4 Justice, said: “We have no knowledge of this. We did not organise it and neither did we sanction it. We were busy with our Buckingham Palace operations, and there were no other operations planned."

Constituency Labour Party chairman John Browning condemned whoever was responsible.

Cllr Browning, who is also a Bexley Council cabinet member, said: “This was fairly threatening for the nursery staff and parents whose children attend the nursery. There are other ways of bringing attention to the powers-that-be than defacing property. That is not going to do much good to anyone.”

Cllr Browning said arrangements were being made to remove the slogans from the white building as soon as possible.

The hall at the rear of the Labour Party offices is rented by the Albury Pre-School Nursery, which provides places for between 15 and 20 children under the age of five on weekdays.

Nursery manager Mrs Lynne Froud said: “This graffiti has harmed us more than anything. We try to support all our parents equally, both mums and dads. We do not get involved with the politics of it all.”
