It's a big season ahead for Gillingham keeper Alan Julian, according to the man he replaced between the sticks.

Departed keeper Simon Royce, who joined League 1 Brentford at the end of the season, believes Julian (pictured above) can build on his form at the end of last season.

"There’s a couple of things that he can work on," said Royce. "When he came into the side he had just put in a transfer request, but he got his run in the team and seemed to grow in confidence.

"He kicks well, is one of the most animated keepers I’ve known and is a decent lad. It’s a big season for him as he only has one year left."
