New job for ex-Gateway boss

The former boss of the Thames Gateway development has a new job - as head of a new company driving the regeneration of a Kent town.

Judith Armitt, who is a former chief executive of Medway Council, has been appointed managing director of Ashford's Future, set up to support Ashford's Future Partnership Board in the ambitious growth plans for the town.

Mrs Armitt left the Thames Gateway after a year in the job in December after a Commons committee criticised the management of the regeneration project.

The development programme includes the creation of 28,000 new jobs and 31,000 new homes by 2031. Around £2.5billion of public and private sector money is expected to be invested.
