Under-age drinking and graffiti will be the priorities for Whitstable’s latest police community support officer.

Aaron Pedwell, 23, has joined the town centre beat and takes over from Alamgir Sheriyar, who has been promoted and is now working in Thanet.

Although he was previously working in the retail industry in Canterbury, Aaron has a good idea of what his role will involve because his father is a serving Kent police officer.

He is looking forward to getting to know the community and working with beat officer PC Andy Camp on issues ranging from speeding to anti-social behaviour concerns.

“There is an issue of under-age drinking taking place on the beach and we shall continue to tackle this as well as identifying those responsible for graffiti that is spoiling buildings in the ward,” he said.
