Nightclub attack was 'racially motivated'

POLICE are appealing for information after a 24-year-old man was attacked on the dance floor of a Kent nightclub.

The victim was with his partner at the night spot in Canterbury Street, Gillingham, when a group of males made offensive remarks and gestures to him.

He moved to the dance-floor with his partner but was then struck around the head. It is then alleged that three other males also assaulted him.

The victim suffered facial injuries in the incident that took place between 12.10am and 12.25am on Friday, November 3. He was not taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have revealed that the attack was racially motivated.

Det Con Simon Hollingsworth, who is leading the enquiry, said: "It is not acceptable for anyone to be subjected to this kind of violent and offensive behaviour.

"I would like to hear from any witnesses who may be able to help us with this enquiry."

Anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information that may help police with their enquiries, is asked to contact Det Con Hollingsworth on 01634 792539 or Kent CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111.
