Several members of staff at a Sheppey prison have been treated for minor injuries - after a disturbance last night.

Eight inmates were involved in 'concerted indiscipline', according to the Ministry of Justice.

They say the incident at Swaleside prison was resolved quickly, and an investigation will be held.

The Prison Officers Association said the guards were assaulted at the category B Swaleside jail.

It is understood they were challenging a prisoner who it is thought had a mobile.

It comes just days after a post-Christmas riot at HM Cookham Wood prison in Borstal.
